Rain Go AWAY

We are a mudpile outside so it makes playing outside interesting so when its like this we try to play indoors too. There's not as much running space but we manage to have fun anyway. I realize I didn't but get 1 photo of Scruffy and one of Pepper and realized that when I transfered the photos. It just depends on when I have the camera at hand. One would think I would glue it to my body by now but that's not how it works. I find grooming and playing gets in teh way and feeding too. :-)

I call this Oscar Wild Play. Spice is jumping over Oscar and they were doing this play for quite sometime and then Nathan said go get the camera so I did and well they stopped. hahahaha

Oscar, Jeannie and Roxie were also running and playing and I said be still my heart. Jeannie really is starting to get dogs to play. Roxie always dod but now Jeannie has figured life is more fun being silly.

Oscar rather likes Jazzy too. He's been truly opening up and its nice to see. Now Jazzy has had so manyrinse offs that he looks like he seriously needs a bath but we continue to rinse and brush with this weather. It's all we can do.

One would think that with all this rain all the ice would have disappeared but not yet. poor Scruffs well looks rather scruffy. I am going to have to do some serious brushing on him before he goes home. heh

Okay - not fair - Jeannie had a bath and she is NOT going out except when its not raining as she has handling class tonight for about 15 minutes as Nathan has a meeting tonight so its tru;y just exposure time but well she needed a bath.

Sadly, I was killing her fun as she was getting a mess again so cleaned feet yet again, another brushout and she can't go out till after class. hahahaha

Still got a couple of dogs to brush out. It was a late night last night as we put Nathan's latest issue of the magazine out and well that is always so many steps to do and it seems I am the only one that can do it. But it went well.

Here I was looking forward to watching 'The Voice' - well there is tomorrow night. :-)

Still Raining Off and On

Still raining a fair bit today so instead of photos of everyone, I will do a photo of Kona who came for a bath and is now home and Levon that came for a bath and is now home. Neither would cooperate with staged shots - what are those and you don't do those. Well, I don't but I tried today and the dawgs would just not look the right way, stay nicely brushed or anything I wanted. hahahahaha

Kona has shiny, shiny hair. I used panegenics - no show sheen and look at his shine. His hair seems to work with this conditioner/shampoo and spray condioner combo. You use the conditioner first - yes, you have that right.

I was attempting to get a side view standing pose - yeah right.

I think Kona was LAUGHING at me here.

I settled for this pose.

Then came Levon's bath done right after Kona.

My goal was to get Levon to look at me.

Tail wagging but wasn't happy about the photo taking.

Then no matter what I do, I got poses like this. I even acted silly.

So, I settled for this.

They are both cute despite the fact that this human wanted to pose them and they thought I had to have lost my mind. Both were too interested in playing vs. posing and can you blame them?

Now it's Chases's turn for a bath and off she goes. Do you think she will be any better? Stay tuned!

Oh and the dogs have decided they had enough of the rain especially Oscar who prefers the recliner. Me too! But off to groom Chase.

Here is Chase after her bath waiting for mom and dad. She's not going out again as it is raining. She was more than fine for the bath but everyone wants to play vs. taking these silly photos.

This was a nice pose - good one, Chase!

This was her - you got to be kidding look.

In case you missed it....

Just because... heheheheh Can I be messy when I go home?

It is pouring rain and Oscar is soaking up the wet on the recliner staying nice and warm. He's getting blowed dried next so he can be warm and cozy. It's wet and grimy out there.

He adores this chair and the blankets we put on it so they can snuggle. He's waiting for Nathan to climb in and join him as he does.

Rain, Rain Go Away

We have been going out in-between rainstorms. It's been interesting. Rens sells something that you can spray on feet that is supposed to quicken the drying and is supposedly good for the hair. I am going to try it. I tried to get Nathan to order it from Rens for me but even though he put in an order he didn't. If he needed to use it we would have it fast. hahahahahaha Oh well, he saves us money and wastes my time?

Here are a few photos from today's playing and I have a ton but no time for a gallery and well I can only put up so many photos - sorry.

We are practicing 'recall' with Chase. Fun name as she does love a good chase but we are trying to get her to come and we will not chase. Sometimes she comes for a treat and sometimes she find outdoors way too much fun but we persist and hope to make big headway when her parents come. If I recall Jeannie, she comes running and then guess who does too? But I can't send Jeannie home with them. Recall is so important and sometimes the most difficult to teach especially for the free spirited - that looks better than you type of a dog and we have a few of those so creativity has to be explored. We are having fun with this challenge.

Jeannie and Chase and notice who is chasing who and Chase is loving it!

Nathan was trying to get a photo of the dogs from a low level but they weren't cooperating.

As you can see we still have a fair bit of snow and ice despite the rain. I suspect it will all be gone soon.

Shoshi is enjoying the last moments of the season by rolling in the snow.

Jazzy seems to have lost weight and is playing up a storm. As usual he enjoys outside the most rain or shine. heh He had to have two rinses today as he was so black and his mom and dad like him to be clean - don't we all? :-) Give Jazzy a mud pile and well he loves to lay in it.

Logan and Chase are practicing the Logan/Kat routine of let's smell up the yard. heh As things melt...

Logan loves everyone and he just mucks it up with Mia quite a bit. It's a riot! She challenges him and then they go at it in full play. Mia is off to Arizona with Nathan this next weekend as he told her Mom and Dad he would bring her out to them. He's only going for overnight so it's a fast trip (Fri-Sunday). Hope he enjoys the flight and sun. It beats our weather.

By the way, I brushed all the dogs before this photo shoot. I am not sure they look like I did - they certainly don't look like it now after going out in the rain.

Truffies head hair is finally starting to grow after being Logan-cized. I call this strike a pose with dirt. Got to love dogs - well I do - such spirit!

Ice is starting to go.

Always play and cleanup to do.

It's been fun but the day is hardly over.

Tomorrow we will be clicking Oscar. This was before the big rain hit.

Day Has Been Too Busy

I have been grooming all day and when I say all day I literally mean all day. I just finally finished. Here are some photos taken today. All baths done today are nice and clean at home now I imagine getting dirty again. When you see Panda, well you will get what I mean.

Brie After BathThis is Brie after her bath. Unfortunately I didn't get Colby's picture as Jane and Family showed up just as I was finishing him.

The dogs managed to get much play in despite me grooming. I nagged Nathan to take photos and I stopped between groomings to click and watch. As you can see Kat is in the lead and Logan is right behind him. Instead of just mucking around sniffing it appears Kat and Logan are playing chase games - nice!

It's nice to see these two playing!

Panda had a bath as you can see but when you look at the photos below you will see what I mean about getting to be a mess right after. They can't help themselves.

Don't I look so pretty Auntie Darlah? Now no one will believe I had a bath.... hahahahahaha

Chase has let go and has started to truly play with everyone from Jeannie to Logan to anyone who will including Darcy but you will have to look at Spice's page for Darcy's update.

It's been a day of exhaustion but no ax has dropped. Life is joyful when you see the dogs mucking it up. I hope those that had baths and are now home are catching some serious zzzzs.

Photo Sharing

Click on Photo to see a Larger ViewThis is Chloe. We just got this photo from their mom. Look at the way she is so comfie. This is Simba's sibling. Look at the colour of her eyes. She is a chocolate. She has chocolate ears. I do not remember her being designated as chocolate. Maybe my old and feeble mind is forgetting but there is no mistaking. She is a cutie patootie, imho.

Chase came to visit today and I sent Nathan on a mission to take photos and Dennis found the camera on the ground outside - oh oh. Not a photo on it. He swore he took photos but....

Chase is enjoying getting to visit. Tomorrow I WILL TAKE THE PHOTOS and be able to share. heh

I planned on washing Panda but missed the ability. My computer was down. I lost fans and my mouse wouldn't work so I am sadly behind on everything but I am now up and going without 2 fans so we shall see where that goes.

Oh well everyone is having an amazing amount of fun - no one is just hanging out but instead socializing. Life is good with pals!

Got to Have Fun

No matter what is going on we always manage to play and have fun as no play makes life so dull, don't you think?

Here are just a few photos of today. Notice the one of Scruffy jumping at the camera, another of Spice and Pepper kissing Nathan. Sebastian that is just visiting for a bit to play today along with Ty - guys that want to have fun or is it the gals?

Yes folks we play hard and groom after. hahahahaha

Jeannie after Abigail to PlayNow its time to groom. I used to groom before play but that seems a bit backwards. :-) Sebastian and Ty who just dropped in for a play is leaving shortly so its time to stop playing and get grooming. hahahaha

Sniff Sniff

When it comes spring the dogs smell all sorts of things that we don't. When we know the snow has gone for good we use a disinfectant on all our walkways, decks etc that is non toxic to the dogs. I can't even remember the name but I get it from a lady that does the dog shows.

I also know Canadian Tire used to sell something that you can put on your hose through your fertilizer bottle that does the same thing. It's not necessary - just something we do. I like the fresh clean of 'clean' what can I say. :-)

Do you ever wonder what your dogs can smell that you don't? Read this.

Brie at Pool

Doing short updates today. I am looking at older photos and thought you may enjoy this photo. Looking outside though it surely doesn't look like pool weather any soon.

We are doing short updates today. Got a crazy day today - so apologies - not my usual. More tomorrow! I will make up for it. ROFL

Got a Water Dog?

If you have a water dog blame Kat or Truffie. :-) I am not sure if Phantom swims. I will have to ask Paula. Remember Truffie when he was a youngster? Well he no longer does this to our water dish but he will do it on the pool stairs.

I am posting this as we are in a lull. We have a quiet house and its important to know that habits such as this can be redirected. They do grow up but for some water is just so inviting.

Of course we change the spring water - yeah the dogs drink spring water.

Of course we have an unseasonable cold front that has settled in so maybe not till May will the pool be opened. Oh well... will save money for sure. :-)

At least this year no new pool liner.

Today I groomed a little throughout the day. Each time I stopped doing something I grabbed a dog and brushed them out. Some days I know I need a groom out.

Nathan's done practicing with Jeannie - still haven't figured out Wednesday night.

The Cooper

This is a GREAT photo of the Cooper. Thank you for sharing it with us. It brought a smile to my face.

We have a busy day. Hava Java came to see us - one of Risa's kids - how cool is that and now Hava Java is home. Dusty has departed. Nathan's family is coming over shortly. His dad was diagnosed with cancer and is busy spending time with everyone. We are happy he is coming over.

I have the Jenkins and Oreo to bathe and get pretty for their parents.... busy day so no photos but I hope the Coops will bring a smile to your face as it did mine.

Taking Photos

First thing this morning it was cold but suddenly it warmed up so much that Dennis was busy pumping water off the pool cover as the dogs kept getting soaked.

Problem with this is the water has to go somewhere and that somewhere creates mud but don't tell Dennis that as he will tell you that's not true - yeah right!

So, we have had a truly fun day - much warmer in the afternoon but a messy day.

Why do some dogs love the trampoline effect of the pool cover mixed with the water? Of course it has to be the dogs that come to visit that don't want them bathed. ROFL

Nathan Training

We have had a busy day. We saw Jane and her husband Mark and Irma and Dick at the All About Pet Show and then Nathan told one of them we were starting in the back and we lost them. <sigh>We did look for you. Finally it was getting too late and we had to go.

Then we headed for lunch at Helen and Suzy's home - forgot the ice wine in the van. What a way to start a day. I rushed home, washed two dogs, Nathan did training, we ran with the dogs, Linda came over with Panda - Happy Birthday Lynda may Aruba be just the rest you need!

Here are a few photos I caught of Nathan training Jeannie.

Looking forward to snuggles on the couch with the dogs. Looks like Panda is still in heat. Can I say that Kat has lost his mind? He has.

Home & Show

Cody Loving

I had the immense pleasure of playing in a big way today with the dogs. The downfall is it is soaking wet and muddy out there so its my job to clean them up.

Cody gets a bath in a few minutes as he will be home bound after I bathe him but I managed to get some real loving in with him. He is a sweetheart.

I truly love taking photos of the dogs. To be able to capture and be a part of their experiences and spirit is like no other.

I call myself lucky in this regard.

Tomorrow we will be at the All About Pet Show at opening at the back door (think that is what they call it) and I hope to see some of you there. We already bought our tickets online and there is a coupon to save $3.00 if you do. Use EXHAAPS

Hoping to find some fun stuff for the dogs and for the pups.

Photos Received

Thank you, Piper - this was wonderful! I rather enjoyed this. If you have it in a larger size - send - I am printing out new photos for my walls.

Hi Darlah and Nathan,

Molly is going crazy over the shank bone on the Seder Plate. We want to wish you all a good Pesach.

On another note, Molly and I will be in the Lions Easter Parade with the Toronto St John Ambulance Therapy Dog Pack. This is her first official Group participation. She will have finished her 10 visits to the retirement home and she will be in her official “uniform”. We will take pictures and then I will write that little article for you Nathan. Hope it doesn’t rain.

Will  look for you at “All about Pets”.

Fondly,
Susan and Molly (also Larry)

------------------

Hope to see you at the All About Pet Show. We will be there Friday at opening. I just heard Bowser beds will NOT be there. <sigh> Mammoth beds will be and they are good quality but geez was counting on Bowser. When you go to the shows be sure to ask for samples folks.

Congrats on doing so much with Molly - wonderful!!!!!! Will look for you on Friday! To all our Jewish friends, Chag Sameach!

In addition to a week's worth of non-nutritious matzo, Jews who observe the dietary restrictions of Pesach are deprived of digestion-healthy, high-fiber grains and legumes that normally keep things moving. So it's not unusual at this time of year to hear people complain about the undesirable side effects of all this matzo in the diet. But there are things you can do to combat this problem, sometimes known as Pharaoh's Revenge. So may yours be an easy one! :-) Enjoy your sedars, eat well and as you can see extra shank bones may be appreciated by your havanese. :-)

"Passover and Easter are the only Jewish and Christian holidays that move in sync, like the ice skating pairs we saw during the winter Olympics." -Marvin Olasky

May those that celebrate Easter - may your holiday be special ones!

I had a great photo of Scruffy and Pepper but Nathan said he wants to use it in the mag so its missing. :-) You'll have to make do with Nathan and Darcy!

Levon was here but no photo clicking. Not sure why the camera has not been clicked other than the real small pups. Oh well... it happens - busy doing other things.

Sports Detection, Obedience & Birthday

Darlah and Nathan,

Am I correct in thinking that this is Darlah's birthday today?  If so Happy Birthday Darlah.  Today Coco, Doozie and I attended a workshop on Sport Detection or sniffer training.  The girls had to find the box that contained a scent canister holding a Q tip that has been dipped in wintergreen 24 hour earlier from a group of six identical boxes.  They both did very well but Coco was reluctant to put her head in the box the first time.  Later she identified the correct box by taking a bow at it.  She is such a good little problem solver.  Doozie was a natural,  took to it right away.

They are both tuckered out now.

Lot of love

carol

Here are the photos:

Carol: Thank you for the birthday greetings and thank you for doing so much with your dogs. It does my heart good. You always manage to challenge their bodies and minds - good one!!!

Dear Darlah,

Thank you for always taking such good care of us.

We wish you a Very Beary Happy Birthday!!!!

                  Love,

                        Scruffy & Pepper

(& the rest of the Bear Family)

                              XOXO

Thank you truly!!

Shannon let us know this:

Levon graduated from obedience class today. He won "best settle stay," "best recall," and, most importantly (I think), "the happiest dog" award.

Crazy Daze Continues

I am busy getting everyone groomed, Envy got a wash. I will put up a photo of Truff and him before grooming and in Envy's case before a bath. I just finished him now.

I am exhausted.

But our day started very early and I must now get everythig prepared afte the next bath for the seminar as we have to arrive at 8am with dogs done, prepared etc.

So, in case I can't update you later which will probably be most likely, here are a few photos that started at 6am today.

So, you can see as busy as it gets the dogs always manage to have fun!

Really Crazy Day Today

Roxie's Face tells you how I feel - Oh boy! Fun but....u got me!As you can see I am updating very late. I had a marathon of washing. It's been a tad insane and I just stopped now. So no galleries - extra photos - nada.

Today I finished Nathan's kits for his seminar. The one he is doing on Sunday, on my birthday. I had a ton of work getting that ready. I also procrastinated too much so I had extra dogs including Zoey (Dusty's sister that visited and had a bath. Now she is at home I imagine snuggling with her parents.

As it's my birthday Sunday and I am going to a breed seminar that Paula and Tracy are coming in for I needed to get some dogs ready to show at this seminar cause Nathan will be talking and I will be taking care of the dogs so he can show them. Plus when Paula comes in she always seems to time it when mine are due for their baths. She has perfect timing.

As I am feeling a tad old these days I pondered yet again covering the grey. Now I want you to laugh. I have never done this before so the box purchased a year ago sat and sat. I never quite found the time to do it and I knew I would honestly never had the time so I did the mix today, I put it in my hair, I washed Wasabi. 25 minutes passed, I put Wasabi on the floor with blowers on her and I hung my head in the sink. The stuff stinks. How does anyone ever do this but if you want to hide the grey. Then I put Wasabi back up on the table after conditioning the hair never getting to see what this dye stuff did to my hair, wrapped a towel around my head and started brushing Wasabi out. She was my last dog for today. I got hot so took the towel off, brushed my hair with a dog brush - doesn't everyone and finished Wasabi.

I then headed to the bathroom to take a gawk at what this stuff did beyond stinking something terrible.

Well, it didn't cover MY grey. Oh it is better but not complete. Why did I even bother?

Tomorrow I get to wash 2 dogs (Envy) and another before Paula comes as he heads home after this seminar. Paula insists on taking me out to eat and I wonder if I will be sleeping in my plate and just hoping Monday arrives. I doubt I will find anything to wear and well I am stilll grey and doesn't everyone got a breed seminar to help hubby on their birthday? ROFL

Now I want you to know despite insane busy I still got time to snuggle with every single dog. I washed, I snuggled, I played. I washed and then it began again. I have my priorities.

But can I go to bed now?
