All About Puppies
Fiona's Having Morning Sickness... Abigail & Wasabi's Pups Went Home and Soon Teaser and Spice

Occasionally we have a pup available that was not spoken for before his or her birth. It happens. There is a limit to how many deposits we will take up front and it isn't until after the pups are born that we finalize with everyone on the waiting list.  Phantom and Abigail had fabulous puppies so we duplicated that and Wasabi has had her very last litter with Phantom and we were pleased with the results. We are excited to see what Spice and Truffie produce when the time comes.

We also whelped a litter for multiple best in show dog Teaser. The sire is Phantom who is also a multiple best and show dog and the winner of the Canadian National Specialty in 2011. Those pups came fror a playdate and it was a wonderful play session. See the photos here. We are going to try for one last Teaser litter again soon.  We are waiting for her to come into heat. They were so very fabulous and we will be whelping them here.

Wasabi and Abigail's pups will be coming over next weekend so watch for those photos and videos. We do this sort of thing to get everyone together, offer support if needed and well we love seeing them

We will also announce the Woofstock date meet-up and the picnic will be held August 11 in Brighton - details coming.

Note: If you are interested  in a future Talemaker Havanese puppy then please complete the Puppy Questionnaire and we'll continue this conversation with you directly in email.

In addition, we are always aware when one of our good friends and fellow Breeders have Havanese pups available and will be happy to direct you to one of them. The process starts, for those seriously interested, with you completing our puppy questionnaire. You get a good look into who and what we are with the excellent work my wife, Darlah, has done on the web pages and her blogs. Now we need to hear from you, why you could provide a great loving home to one of our puppies.

We Will Be Sharing Summer Fun SoonThose of you that follow the daily blogs, Talemaker Puppies: Fiona,  Talemaker Puppies: Abigail, Talemaker Puppies: Wasabi, Talemaker Puppies: Truffie, Talemaker Puppies: Treasure and All About Our Dogs have a very good idea on exactly what we put into our puppies and our four-legged crew. We go the extra mile and then some as that is who we are. We LOVE the dogs, walk the walk and talk the talk. We live and breathe them more than many can even imagine. They are our family.

As breeders and yes, rescue folks, we have gone through a great deal of changes over the years. We listen to our dogs and learn from them and adjust our way of thinking to help the dogs be all they can be. We do not pretend to know it all. What we do is invest time in learning, listening and experiencing. We think the dogs are worth it. We are not afraid of the work. What we get back, what we feel in our hearts, is worth every effort.

We Do Big Dog SocializationWe had an old lady Golden Retriever that came to us a mess at only 6 years of age. We did what needed doing to get her straightened out. It took years. We slow conditioned her until we helped rid her of her fears. She lived with us for 8 more years before leaving us at the rainbow bridge just last month. We miss her immensely!

We have placed a number of rescues and we have helped them along the way. Darlah is now actively involved with Havanese Rescue for the national breed club. Thankfully we don’t get Havanese rescues that often but when we do we have willing foster homes and there are always people looking to help.

Puppy mills should never exist. Bylaws are written to squish them flat but they exist and flourish and move on and start again where good dog people struggle to help and do the 'right' thing.

We health test, invest our heart and souls into puppies and will always take them back if circumstances lead someone to become unable to care for one of our pups. We genuinely care. Puppy millers do not. They may say they do but when faced with a return they won't. How sad. How can you breed and not care. If you heard about this great deal where you can get a supposedly purebred Havanese puppy for $500 or $800 don't fool yourself. You get what you pay for and those puppies will not be health tested to the acceptable standard of a national breed club member, nor will their parents or grandparents. They may or may not have registration papers with the Canadian Kennel Club. Anytime you hear someone say they have a different price for their puppies if you don’t require registration papers, run, don’t walk, in the other direction. Remember, you get what you pay for and a puppy will be a treasured member of your family for 12-17 years or more. They will become a part of your family. They are worth the investment. They are worthy of your love.

When we have puppies, moms are given massages, groomed daily and loved. Pups are held, cuddled, cleaned throughout the day and night so when they come to you, they appreciate a clean environment. People laugh when they realize we sterilize twice a day and pick up on site. But we do that with the adult dogs on walks and in our yard. We don't get lazy. We pick up immediately.

The pups are placed on puppy pads throughout their time with us, taken outside and in our kitchen, upstairs and hallway areas for exercise, socialization and training. We show it all. We love them beyond belief and it is hard to say good-bye but when we see them on visits we are left with the reality that they are well loved and this addition to someone's home made the pup and the new family happy forever. If a mistake occurs and on rare occasions it happens, then we get it right.

We are human. The real crime is not learning and getting better. We strive to improve, always.

Dogs are our lives and that's not simply just a statement. We hope we make a difference and help, not hinder, as the dogs are truly worth it. We will continue to grow, to learn and perfect and always strive to do the right thing for the dogs. When it's about us then you make decisions not in the dog’s best interest - so we struggle with ways to make a difference, always.

Regardless, those of you that might be interested in a Talemaker Havanese puppy, please fill in our puppy questionnaire.

We also started a blog on Silly or Not Dog Products. We hope this is the start of sharing great quality products and silly ones that aren't worth the $$. This way we can all help the dogs and save $$.

Nathan is also doing a subscription based Havanese magazine, Havanese Breed Magazine on everything Havanese. It is now available and the writer lineup is amazing. New writers are coming onboard all the time too even with an international flavour! Subscribe today

From time to time we also offer Havanese tips. Those of you that have read them in the past will be pleased to know we have updated them.

An interactive area now exists named 'Discuss It.' Feel free to post your thoughts, tell us what we are missing, or ask any questions you may have.

We will also be adding more and highlighting this area when we do. We try to cover a variety of issues. If you find a subject that you want covered, please let us know.

We are always here to offer support to our puppy people and visitors alike. We are truly excited that you took the time to visit us.
