Lack of Photos Day

I think I am playing recovery but I snapped a ton of the pups but didn't get to the adults except this one. Roxie will swim with me, Kat refuses to swim with anyone but Nathan.
Today I tried to get Benji, Jlo and Tiger Lily in but they decided playing with the crew was better than a swim. They also decided inside in air was better than 87% humidity but not Roxie. Without Nathan I didn't try too hard plus I have to brush everyone out again (brushed them all this morning) when they go swimming and then dry them and well I am out of steam. So, I did try. They weren't interested and I didn't push it. Not even Kat wanted to be out.
We had to take the pups into the pool just so they could play outside for a short bit. It was too steamy hot.
But we have been having fun inside and everyone got a yum reindeer antler. Okay, I couldn't help myself. :-)

Hi Darlah, I'm a big fan of your blogs. We have a new puppy from Beth in Wakefield and I am amazed at the fact that he really doesn't like the heat and humidity. Surely a breed that originated in Cuba shouldn't love laying belly done on the air conditioning floor registers!?! LOL
I think its the humidity that is dangerous. We actually placed the pups in the pool and let them swim to reduce their body temperature. Most love cool tiles in the summer. Think about it. If you originated from Cuba and then lived in Canada for many years your body would adjust. I used to live in California. The first year you see people coming and swimming in the winter. The next year they may still try but by that third year they are wearing coats in the winter. It took me many more years to adjust to the cold. It seems its easier to go from cold to heat and not the other way around.
My dogs love the dry heat and will lay out in it but they do not like the high humidity and will prefer the air conditioning when it is like that. We have had very high humidity. I went out to garden and had sweat pouring off me. You have to pay attention to them in the high humidity as it can be dangerous and pups don't always know to take in enough water to help them deal with what they lose in weather like that. You will find they enjoy the dry heat much more than what we are getting this year. We usually live outside but this summer we have done a lot of indoor playing. :-(
