Air and More

We have air conditioning. Dennis melted the line that was frozen. (Last night was toasty but the dogs had their cooling mats and were very happy). Me, not so much - well happy for them but not for me.

We took out the filter (was dirty) and we still have air. We need another air filter. Looking into washable, non washable but something that doesn't restrict the air flow. Ideas? We have one room upstairs that boils as it doesn't have the air flow. Have to look into blowers on the vents. I think they make them.

Oh well, rain today. House is comfortable and we will still try to swim. Nathan's camera is a hit and miss. One thing at a time. May have a line on a remedy for Nathan's camera just in time for his birthday next week.

Looking forward to Woofstock. Think we are bringing Stone and Trouble. Now if Nathan's foot cooperates. It's better not whole.

Now off to do laundry and comb out dogs. Pups are sleeping!

Oh my gad we actually feel the air and the dogs are playing silly crazy. Kona is in love with the girls though Penny says - I don't think so. The rest are smittened with him.

Here's today's gallery.

Sherry also gave us this really cool raft for the dogs. Oh my are we going to have to get Murphy on it.

Bravo, happy to hear your AC is working. We turned ours on yesterday. The kids were complaining it was too hot.

HOORAY for air and swimming! CLaruty went swimming with me twice yesterday - much ,ore comfortable this year. Got crazy busy & not sure I'll get Clarity up there this week, but will DEFINITELY see you at Woofstock and next week she is booked for sure.

So glad your air is fixed. I can't stand the heat and Ed gets eczema if he gets too hot and sweaty! I am taking Patches and Radar for walks around 9 am. Patches seems to get hot very quickly, she has a very thick coat like Jeannie. Do you think that is normal?

Actually the longer the coat and thicker the better insulation from heat and cold. The shorter, the hotter they get. Makes no sense on the initial mulling over this thought but very true. But they do need water on walks when it is hot.

Initially their bodies do adjust to a change in temperature much like we do. We did go from cool to hot fast. They should adjust. In the scheme of things this is not hot but I was trying to convince myself of that when we didn't have air. I literally would take a shower, leave hair and body wet and go to bed. I do not do heat well without air and a pool.

My mother used to freeze towels and hang them near the fans to cool off the house. I did try it and it actually works but not like air.

Continue to walk early morn or late night. It will be better for you and them as the pads do feel the heat on the pavement.

Np re: this week. Can see you at Woofstock. Glad she is swimming this year. Sherry brought us a raft for the dogs I am going to try it with the dogs tomorrow if the weather cooperates. It looks great to fit a dog on and relax. Hoping they like it. Thank you, Sherry! It's been crazy busy here. Not getting anything done as the pups are consuming my time. hehehehe

Mary:

I am surprised you made it to yesterday. It was way too hot in the house. As we had windows closed due to having air on (even though it wasn't working but who knew), it registered 87f on the first floor and 91f in the bedrooms. I was a crab.

I know I know I can't believe we made it till yesterday too. Kids were a little crabby and moody. They sure did enjoy the cool house once they got back from school today. I feel like we totally missed spring this year. We dived right into summer!

Thanks Darlah. Even though we have had many dogs before, they have all been much bigger than our Havis. I get the feeling sometimes they have different requirements because of their small size. I will catch on eventually.

Angela:

It is a COMMON misconception. We think less hair for us keeps us cooler but for them their hair insulates keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer.

I have an air conditioning unit in the attic because my house has rads.
Works well but I still need a fan in my bedroom when it gets this hot.
Murphy pants in the car in this weather even though she has the air blowing on her and an ice pack in her car seat. Maybe it's just the adjustment you mentioned, Darlah.

Sherry. even the humans are adjusting.:-)

Wow, that was very hot in your house! I resisted turning a/c (always try not to as long as possible) but it's really necessary now. What are cooling mats? Oliver is having a hard time with the heat, but it did come on suddenly. Good to know that he will get better with it.

Do a google search on cooling mats for dogs. There are many brands. Some better than others. It helped me get through hot flashes too. :-)
