Best of Times

We turned our dining-room into a tv room. We placed a couple of couches in it, tables, a desk and of course a TV. Now the recliner is also in it.

One of the dogs best place in the house is this room. Why? They have a huge crate that they can lay in that connects the 2 couches together. This gives them easy access to go back and forth between couches without going back down to the floor and it has a comfie bed on the crate so one of them can sit up there and watch. It's a high end crate the size that takes a golden with wheels and a slide down door that always stays tucked up and out of the way and open.

We also have beds on the side table, stairs and a dog bed on the floor plus a recliner if Daddy is sitting in it.

It's a pure dog heaven. We never used the dining-room. So we figured why not. With xpens being in the family room along with my desk and dogs not having access while pups are small, it makes sense to have another room to chill. I have to say Fiona will ask to go into it when no one is there just to hang out and have quiet.

I think it is their most favourite room in the house after the bedroom and even the guests think so too.

It's rather nice having a real dog friendly tv room to chill in. Just think I dragged my feet on this one and the men in my life was right. :-)

Sounds like the former dining room should be renamed "The Den" in the true sense of the word! I have been searching for an end table that I saw on TV where the inside is actually a dog's bed. However, after hearing how you re-did your room yourself, I'm sure the right end table could be made into a dog's bed/mini den quite easily. Now to put that idea into reality! :-)

There are a few sites on the net that carry 'dog crate end tables' but they are somewhat pricey. I have French provincial furniture that has a space underneath. I found that Katie's first small plastic crate fit underneath. It is one of her favorite spots to hide in.
Here are two sites I found

Thx so much for the info Marilyne! I will check into them - you saved me much searching as I was going to do the "google thing" to try and find one or least one to copy myself. The one I saw on TV was at HomeSense but it seems the burbs stores don't carry the good stuff - you have to be a downtown TO resident it seems.

Go figure having to go downtown - argh.... I heard that too about HomeSense.

It's been very entertaining searching on line for end tables that double as a dog bed. First I came across ones that really were a crate w/ a door and like Marilyne implied, they are cumbersome and I'm not partial to doors - at least not in the long term. What I really want is just a regular end table that has a bottom to house a cozy bed. I found one that is way out there price wise but for anyone that's interested, check out www.denhaus.com. There were other sites w/ more than just beds: www.lucydesignsonline.com and www.petsquared.com and www.gigisburrowbeds.com. If nothing else, it's fun to see what's out there!
