Cool Daze

Here's a gallery from today. Dallas loves to get up on the stairs every chance she can get. She loves to be up high. The pups appetite has increased in a big way as Spice's milk reduces. Jeannie's pups still try to steal a sip. Can you blame them?

The pups loved the cooler weather and running around. We have one more outdoor play session so I am going to make this short.

Hot and Active

We kept waiting for the rain to come but the dogs still played their little bodies tired. See the gallery. It was hot, sticky and I think another popup tent will go up on the deck if it stays as hot as today. They watched me as I repotted items and Dennis chopped down a Juniper. So much to do in the garden and I can see them going oh my dirt, twigs - oh my!

Family Visit

Grannie and grand grannie was out (Risa).  She was enjoying the company too. The visit was held under the maple tree in under to get some shade. I think we should have placed blankets out. The dogs were mighty adventurous and they rather enjoy playing with each other and investigating their surroundings including people. Check out the video

Oh and they LOVE<LOVE< LOVE this babble ball that Sherry bought for them. They just woke up about 10 minutes ago and they are focused on just that. One is even barking at it. heh

Thank you everyone for coming!

Cha Cha Visits Her New Brother

Cha Cha is visiting her new brother Satch. It started out slow. They sort of just looked at each other but didn't really play. Just some sniffs and looking. Each time we exposed them one on one and here was what happened tonight. I am not sure who is more fun - Nathan or the pair. I especially love the rollovers. They are going to have a blast with Satch as an addition.

We find doing this 'getting familiar' one on ones before they go home is something that helps the bonding along.

Tomorrow you will see the gang and boy they are so much fun.

Teeth: Updated

Oh my look at all those teeth. The wetness around their eyes is starting to go. They get wet eye and tearing during teething. I can see already that its starting to dry up. It means they have most of their puppy teeth. These will fall out and then they will get their adult teeth.

I forgot they had baths at the 6 week visit. With the rain off and on, they will get sponge baths and no photos. You will see them on Sunday. I have adult dogs to wash for others and I was trying to figure out how to do pups as well. With the weather, well it makes NO sense. They will get another bath when going home and probably after the rain stops. This way a bath will last longer than a day.

Here is a gallery of their fun today. I won't update this blog any further as we expect arrival to be late.

Learning: a Natural Process

Figured instead of responding I would post this here as it is important enough to note. Someone was surprised Creamy who was first in everything else hesitated on the stairs. I saw it as - how do I, can I, oh boy I can. This is what I love about pups.

It is how they learn. I worry about the ones that just do without thinking. A thinking dog is a 'good' thing so I am glad Creamy who achieved everything first till now is assessing things before attempting. It means he has brains. :-) These stairs are deep and only a few have mastered them. The majority has not. Its not an indicator of anything. Part of it is strength, length of body and being flexible. A part of it is being bold enough to take a chance you may fall and yes they have fallen from stair to stair.  They step the wrong way and do tumble. It is a part of learning to achieve.

Today no one did the stairs.

By the way Creamy has conquered the stairs. He wasn't the first. Dallas and Satch was (did I get that name right) then Creamy and the lighter faced gal. All Jeannies have now done stairs. But Jeannies is 8 days older. Stripe from Spices has done the stairs. The rest were too busy having fun to even want to attempt. We don't stage things. We allow it to happen when it does and celebrate achievements. Plus we do not have video on 24/7 so you can miss part of the learning process.

The littlest from Spice won't be able to do the stairs as her body is just not long enough yet. She lacks the reach. Jeannie also didn't do stairs at 10 weeks as she was and remains little. She eventually did.

If I had the wisdom of hindsight I would have made stairs less deep and then you would think they were all stars. But they all are! They are each unique and quite amazing. They all have their very own strengths which are cultivated within their own timetable.

This is not a race. It is can I do this - hmm not sure - lets see how do I - okay lets try. It's rather like how they learned to walk and run. They didn't just get up and do it. They tried and tried, strengthened their legs, perfected their skills and rightly so was proud when they achieved. Then they attempted running. It's a process that they all achieve.

When they achieve they perfect their skills and realize they can do it even better next time. If you think about it we also learn this way. The tragedy is if you can't do something if you never try again but pups --- they do.

Here is today's gallery

You are going to love the pups on Sunday. They just love life! They are also all pretty amazing and yes, I am biased but this is an absolutely fun crew!

Running and Jumping Pups

As you can see the 10 are now as if they were 1 litter. It is interesting how it happens. Here weeks ago I was fretting wondering how I was going to mesh the 2 together with 8 days different. Now they are like one. They are all running and jumping and playing their little hearts out. Wait till you see the video as to who made it up the stairs and who didn't. Even a Spice pup did. My stairs are VERY tall so ....its not easy.

I caught Jeannie playing with her pups, today. We had a blast. They had a blast. Fun was had by all.

The pups are now making it to 7am in the morning with a bedtime of 10-1030. Hooray! Next is eliminating food at night. Everything we do is in stages so they adjust. Oh and the gal on the right is a cheeky one. She takes on Momma and Momma Jeannie loves it.

Greenery

Each day we find new things to explore. Things in the garden are growing as fast as we are. heh Here is a gallery from today. You may see oops in there - a bathroom break - who knows as I have no time to look at them so it is what it is. Ignore if they aren't all pretty.

Pups also had loose stools today. Why? They had dehydrated deer trachea and I think it was a bit too rich for them. It happens. Tonight I am seeing solid stools so it went through them fast.

They are doing really well. They LOVED the cold. I found it downright irritating that I had to put a jacket on, long sleeves and still be shivering but not them. Oh to be a puppy~!

Creamy Says Shall I Try Too?

Pups are so much fun. Can I bat those ice thingies and what wil happen if I do?

Can you believe are 8 weeks old. The first one to go home will be Dallas, the darker faced gal on the 24th.

As classes are being made and pups can't be in class till after their 2nd shot, here is their schedule. First shots was on the 8th. Next shot can be given the 29th till the 5th. Now you know when they can get their shots and when they can join classes. They will need their 3rd shots 3 to 4 weeks after their 2nd shots and then 2 weeks later they can have their rabies.

Here is today's gallery.

It's Raining

Who cares if they are raining. It certainly didn't to the pups. They ran, they played. All 10 didn't even blink at the rain coming down. I am impressed.

Deck Time

Morning Play Session

The 10 got to explore the garden and they rather enjoyed that but one thought rolling a rock in his mouth was grand fun. Oh to be a puppy....
