We didnt try food today but I vow to try it tomorrow. I need to do it early enough in the day to see how their bowels do. Then 4 days later we will try it with the Raven pups.
They are walking really well. They are highly playful. Soon we will start taking them out for play.
We find the last born who is the smallest eats when he wants to eat. I suspect he gets full and stays full longer. LOL
This is another pad that Sherry made. They are incredibly soft, wash well and the pups seem to cuddle into them.
There is one pup that is chewing on the bars all day. I will have to see if he has teeth coming in.
Tomorrow we may try to feed this crew some mousse. What we do is one meal and not till the next day. Why? We see if they have bowel issues, upset tummies etc. It is always wise to transition into food slowly.
They can't go upstairs till they are eating and drinking at night. When this occurs moms come back to bed with me and we watch the pups on the ipad. This allows them to start the transition of being without mom. The goal is this makes their transition to a new home much easier.
Be sure to check out the videos.
The pups are fun to watch when they play!
The pups had their xpen expanded and a sleeping pod put in the pen and they LOVE it. They crawled right in to nap. Throughout the day you could see them in and out of it.
The crew got their first look at the Raven crew. They were fascinated. We have started to take the pups out so people can oooh and ahh over them. It gives them good exposure. We are doing that with both sets of pups.
The pups are pretty solid on their legs and they truly engage in play. I have to find some toys that will hand from the xpen so they can play with them. Last born was actually taking a toy and throwing it a tiny bit from himself and doing it again.
They are such a fun crew!
The pups are pretty good at the walking thing. They make it over to the pad quite nicely though they have a few accidents.
They love, love the softness of the bear. I want to wash it but I may have to go to Loblaws and get another as they seem attached to it. Make note.
The pups are totally lovers. They kiss each other. They snuggle with me when I sit in the pen.
Soon I am going to start walking them through the house.
Brothers are delicious. They play with each other quite well. Sometimes they make the pad - more times than they usually do at this age. Bravo little ones.
I had so much fun with them today. They are actively playing with me now, They give me kisses. they are amazing beings as they are gentle and relaxed. No concern at the noises, the big person joining them in play. They look forward to it.
How fun is that?
This was a day but did I catch it? No! I have to have a camera attached to me. Last born on the left was full out play bowing and playing with his brother that was not pictured here. He's a bloody character, I tell you. Full out play.
Sorry short blog tonight.
I can tell you these pups love comfort. Can you blame them? They sleep long and they play well now. They are so adorable at this stage.
Soon we will feed them solids and see how that goes.
I can now go into the pen and lay down and play with them. It is glorious!
Be still my heart. This crew LOVES and I mean LOVEs the comfort of sleeping with Mr. Bear. How adorable is that?
They are really starting to get aware of their outside surroundings. They are perfecting their walking and are playing with each other at times.
Be still my heart.
This crew will turn 3 weeks on New Years Day. How nice. They are the most relaxed crew. Truly they are.
Stormy had a bath today. I usually do this when the pups turn 3 weeks old. Raven will get hers in a few days. I am going to let her hair grow out so you will see that she has a bichon head at the moment. By the 6 week visit it will be laying down. Now it looks funny and cute, I think.
Stormy's pups want for nothing. I have already expanded the pen as they needed room to walk. Yes, they are practicing walking. In a week or so we will reduce the blankets and give them flooring. Soon they will try food for the 1st time. That will be messy but fun!
Okay, I get excited about these puppies milestones. This puppy is a genius!! He sauntered over to his pad and went to the bathroom. Seriously - never was placed on. He made his way across the pen and voila. I was so excited.
The puppies are out of their whelping box but I reduced the size of the pen. This is new but I decided to go this route so they can find mom easily for feedings. As they are walking - and some are doing a rather good job at it, I will increase the space.
You will see in the videos that they made noises as they adjusted to seeing outside and being in a new area. Now, not a peep. They have settled in quite nicely. They are building their coping skills and doing quite a nice job of it.
Now they can see out at us and the dogs. They can look at a larger space and soak it in and gain familiarity. I will do the same to Ravens perhaps 4 days from now.
For now we are going to start walking them through the house one at a time.
There's a world out there, puppies and I am excited to be a part of your exposure!
Sometimes they have to push another out of the way to find a spot. They are absolutely fat and adorable. They will thin out as they are walking.
They are such laidback beings. Just love them!
The pups are edging up on week 3. They are starting to walk. We may be taking them out of their whelping box soon. I have decided to reduce both Stormy and Ravens pen to 1 panel deep so they can find mom. They will remain that way till they need more room. I will be doing this over the next 2 days. It just makes too much sense.
The pups now kiss Nathan as he kisses them and they look at us in awe. Who are these funny looking creatures? They don't look like my mom.
We had our nails done and boy does that tickle.
Here is the gallery of their nail cutting.
We are starting to try to truly walk. It's a riot. We will get there and then we will gain less and thin out.
The adventure is about to truly begin.
This is part of the fun that we have. Here is Mr. bear looking in on the Stormy pups.
We have pups trying to climb out so we may have to take the whelping box away but I am trying to wait as long as I can. It means they are spread out so harder to get to mom and there is more laundry so.... I am actually thinking of reducing the size of the pen till they are walking around and they can still find mom. I am thinking it through.
Everyone has been contacted for Stormy and Raven's litter. Some of you still want to wait for a later litter. If you didn't get contacted, yell at us. We have not heard from a couple of you.
It's a short blog today as I need some time before bed and the clean up that goes on before that.
Now that the eyes and ears are open they are getting a bit more interactive. It is nice to watch. This will increase day by day.
The eyes and ears both open at the same time. I know they can hear as I clapped my hands over them and they jumped. I know - terrible of me to do but I wanted to know if they could now hear the tv and my voice.
The pups are started to get more animated now that they can see. As the days go by, this will increase till they are full out playing. We are heading into a fun activity stage.
Interesting thing to note is eyes open independently. Not till I started typing away did the brown and white boy (4th born) open his eye that was closed. he had 1 eye open and 1 eye closed till the other opened tonight.
Now we have all eyes open.
Here is the gallery of day 13.
It takes a few days to see them engage in play. When their eyes open the eye sight is blurry and they are taking in all the sights. Imagine what that is like.
Today one of the pups almost made it out of the whelping box. This is very early but we may be removing the whelping box earlier vs. later. We shall see.
Here is the gallery of the 3rd born with eyes open.
Here is the gallery of the 1st born with eyes open.
Two out of 5 now have their eyes open. So exciting. They also got a new box without railings and Raven got theirs with the railings that are taller.
I love, love, love the Stormy's nature and if her pups are the same - bonus. She is a fun character as you can see in this pose above. A puppy was stuck under the blanket. So she took her teeth, grabbed an end and pulled out the blanket so the puppy went plop and was out. What a smart gal. She didn't even wait for me.
Here is today's gallery. No eyes open yet. We are waiting.
Pups are doing well. I find no matter how many blankets I put in they like to crawl under and sleep or just cuddle with the blankets half in and half out.
A week and a half old - wow. I can't wait till their eyes open. Nathan and I have this game. Who will they see first? It is a silly game but we can't help ourselves.
I have given up on keeping everything neat. Stormy just likes tp bunch the blanket up for her pups. Maybe she knows something I don't. They do look comfie.
