12 Days Old and 1 Eyes Open

Belly up boy getting mighty comfie with his surroundings. The gal is too. AThe boy still has slitty eyes where he can see but refuses to open up wide. The gal has opened hers halfway - a more than teh boy.

As you can see her eyes are open. His will probably be tonight.

The gal is getting up on her legs more than the boy but it happens so quickly, you can't capture it unless you have a video going always.

It will take a week to see some really big progress - maybe less or maybe more. Eyes open changes everything. In 2 weeks time, it will be exciting to watch for them, for us and for you.

11 Days Old

I am so late on the blogs as I have been grooming all day. Pups gained a minimal amout today but spent time trying to get up on the legs. So, this is quite normal. They are fat and eat well.These pups, so far has been mighty easy care. Mom is fabulous and well they want for nothing.

Videos are going up now. I am going to do it from the recliner and hope I do not fall asleep. LOL

10 Days Old

They still do have squinty eyes so I think within a day or a bit for eyes open. The gal is getting up on her legs and attempting to walk. The fat boy says - think I will crawl for now. LOL

Once the eyes are open, I add toys so they have some visuals. It is not until they try to climb out of the whelping box that I remove it. Until then, they can only see out from a certain vantage point. Their world will change, at this point and you will enjoy their antics once they start getting mobile. It seems like it takes forever and then it does and you go - oh that was fast.

Hallie remains golden as a mom. She is one of the best moms. She lets them sleep when they need to. She loves cuddling with them and she fills their needs. 

Usually about 3.5 weeks old we take them outside for the 1st time. That is approx 2 weeks from now. We play it by ear depending on the weather and how mobile they are. 

For now we are on eyes open watch.

9 Days Old

Today, I had them in my lap as they fed from Hallie. I am doing whatever I can to make them smell me, feel me so when thir eyes are open, I am a comfort. I do this with all the pups but I am able to do it the way that I can with only 2. It is a wonderful experience.

It is hard to believe that it is 9 days since the pups arrived. It goes by so fast though I must admit I am looking forward to the open eyes stage.

8 Days Old

The pups are now 8 days old. They are vocal when they want mom. Mom reacts to them or then says you need to sleep after checking them out.

It is funny that they have very similar markings. The boy is larger than the gal. Both like to eat. Hallie is picky and then eats treats like she is starving. She is a riot. But she has enough milk as they are gaining. 

I can't wait till their eyes open. I want them to see who is snuggling with them. How selfish of me.
