Bath Time Today

Saffron had a bath today and then it rained - of course. I think that is called Murphy's Law.

Murphy came to visit today and they both act silly crazy with each other. I went to go get Sherry but she had already departed. I wanted Sherry to see their bond. It's amazing.

She is eating now but being very picky. Steak - okay - chicken - really - hot dogs 1 meal okay.

The only time we cater to the moms is during pregnancy and feeding of the pups. Otherwise you will create picky eaters and you will pay dearly for it. I will tell you the moms know when the pups go home they go back to 2 meals a day. Saffron is eating small meals throughout. I can't believe in 1 month we shall see pups.

Nathan keeps filling our time and if it continues we will not have the needed time off. We shall see...

I want to go to St Jacob's. I just want to get out here and there - to a movie etc.

Lovely Saffie! Darlah, you should make sure you get a break! Talking of picky eaters, I have two. You are right, it is not easy!

Just think, in almost one month, Saffron will have puppies...and Spicyb and Cooper will visit...how exciting!

So sorry I missed that!!!

Pretty, saffron. I did the same Darlah; washed both, then it rained. Kind of hard to avoid it this year.
All my dogs have gotten high quality food and I change up the flavours, if they turn up their nose, they don't eat. theyve all tried to "train" me, they all ended up eating. after an upset tummy when they've gotten "special food", they try it again ... uncpauccessfully, of course! ... persistent they are 😉

My issue is if they don't eat the Fromm's with a small amount of chicken, beef or cheese in it (again, I change up the flavours if the Fromm's), they throw up bile. I have tried everything to get them to eat the kibble. They will at times, but at other times they throw up bile. I really don't think the bile is good so they have trained me to give them something else which I know they will eat just to settle their tummies. They are way smarter than me and a lot more stubborn. ❤️ Any suggestions are most welcome.

Try soaking the kibble in chicken broth - hot so it softens. See how that works. they do not throw up bile here. They should not have upset tummies. Dogs can and will throw up bile from time to time. But on a daily basis no. Those that do can be eating too fast or they need to eat more frequently.

We always add chicken in the morning and cooked ground veal, lamb something in the evening warm. We do spoil.

But moms get steak, fish, lamb chop pieces and on and on. They need the extra protein and they get it as they have pups growing inside. They eat a number of meals each day. It is hard for them to get weaned off of that but by doing so their milk lessens. they stop feeding pups and it all comes together.

We feed Grain-Free Fromm's, different flavour but use one bag at a time, and add ground chicken or lean ground beef, morning and night. I cook a batch and freeze it. When filet mignon is on sale, I cook that too and put it in the food processor. I find it makes for a nice sprinkle on the kibble :-)

On the topic of bile, in the 6 years that we've had Cooper, he has thrown up bile about 3 times, each time it was first thing in the morning when he woke up.

I don't eat meat or poultry so Clarity and Farley eat like queens and kings when at the Talemaker Resort! They come running when they smell sweet red pepper, and also enjoy cucumber, melon, and fun to hear them chewing on celery. I don't add it to their food as I don't want them to expect it. It's a treat and never when I'm preparing food or eating. Although I sometimes pretend to drop two pieces when chopping so they will sit patiently in the kitchen with their eyes glued to the floor.
(They also eat Fromms grain free, different flavours, one bag at a time. And yes, every now and then throw up bile, but not frequent)

I feed Fromms too, very much the same way as Anne and Darlah do, adding the different meats. I am going to try adding chicken broth to the kibble and change up the meat morning and night. Thanks all. I really appreciate all the wonderful information. I get so concerned when they don't eat, I tend to overdo my attempts to get them to eat something. They often pick out the Fromm's kibble and drop it on the floor, then just eat the meat. Definitely, I don't like them throwing up bile - they do that when they have empty stomachs which they have when they don't want what I have to offer. Thank you so much for the helpful advice. I will take all hints to help them along.

I am new to enticing my dogs to eat. Having bigger dogs before, getting them to eat was never an issue. Getting them to lose weight was more of an issue with them. ☺️
