Doing the Math

Now if Adele took her very first mating, count 63 days and tell me what date you come up with. Her first mating was July 31st. We could have pups on the 2nd? YIKES

Scary to me as I have SO much to do.

You are correct Darlah, the second of October. What is scary to you is very, very exciting and anticipatory to me. Funny how different perspectives can be.....

Sounds like the 2nd to me also :-) Two weeks tomorrow!

I have an added bonus. I am excited to see the pups but I worry about will one need extra help. Should I be giving it extra help? Will mom be okay. Will she have issues delivering? I am also balancing grooming everyone, taking photos, taking care of pups and trying to fit in a shower. Those first 3 weeks are always a lot of work but I wouldn't cut corners for my own sanity. I take care of the pups like I would want my pups taken care of. If one is not gaining, I worry. Crazy stuff like that so our perspectives are different. It's a lot of weight I carry for mom, for all of you and the pups.

This time we will have probably a 1 week gap so that 3 week turns into 4 weeks until I can relax a bit.

First time moms need help. They need to know how to negotiate pups to make sure they are being fed so we give them a little help. Moms also need tummies washed and dried, hair brushed, bums cleaned and all that fun stuff.

Moms bleed for approx 2 weeks after pups so you have to keep them clean. They also tend to have loose bowels.

So, yes, a lot of work but when I hold them, I still oooh and ahhh over them and tell Moms how amazing they are as they truly are!

Bonus I expect Leti, Panda and Inula to go into heat when we have pups.

Darlah, I am sorry if I sounded flippant, I certainly didn't intend to. I have seen on your blogs for the last two years what you go through with each and every litter. I, for one, couldn't do it, not the knowledge nor the energy. You are truly amazing.

Oh Angela - didn't think you were and I 'get' the excitement. I am excited too but I also worry. It's my nature.
