Outdoor Play

Even though it was cool outside, we got the pups out. Adele pups have more body fat so they can stay warmer longer. So, we took out the Adele pups first and then the Roxie pups. All are doing well outside. Funny, I wasn't comfie outside but the pups were till they felt cold. They are getting conditioned to cooler weather.

Wait till you see the pups tomorrow. They are so much fun.

Here's a video with Patches.

Not many videos but be sure to check out the gallery of the outdoor play on Roxie's blog.

Anne:

She will visit today and next week and we will see. We do multiple play sessions to truly get a feel as things can change.

I know this is the absolutely best way to match up an existing dog and a pup and I truly love that you do it, but boy, it is so stressful as well as exciting for the anticipatory family, :-)

I must be fair and add it also depends on the personality of each human parent. Ed says that as long as Patches loves the pup and the pup her and Darlah and Nathan think the pup is a good fit, then the pup will be perfect for us, regardless of which pup it is. He is so sensible and calm, whereas I am like a child on christmas eve, and I am certainly not a child anymore.

Angela: I realize that but all the studies have pointed to 8 weeks being the perfect time to see structure, temperament etc. It's actually hard on everyone. I get that but as you know from experience it changes in a big way from 6 to 8 weeks. To be all but fair the pups are 6.5 weeks and 5.5 weeks. The Rox pups are a half of a week younger than usual. We have 2 weeks before the vet and know who is going where.

And we get to see the process that clarity and I will be going through in a few months. I also am incredibly appreciative, Darlah and Nathan, that you do this. I am quite sure the majority of breeders don't go to this level. Although I spent a lot of time ensuring my two dogs integrated well together, you never know. I think I was very lucky that they were best buds within a week and stayed that way their entire lives ... Always said they were velcroed at the shoulder. I have no doubt this will happen again, but this time it won't be because of luck!
