4 Half Days Old: Updated

Click on Photo for Larger ViewHow did edging up to 5 days come so fast? I am now weighing them twice a day. Once at approx 715am and once at approx 715pm. They just started to gain just barely over an ounce a day. Their weight gains are right on track. I will have to line them up so you can see body differences but that may be a miracle. I will have to do it after a feeding and when falling asleep. I will let you know if I can pull it off.

Here are the latest videos.

Pups 4 Days Old

Where Are You, Sibs?

Night Feeding

Back Feeding

Early Morning Feed

Just Ate

Changed Bedding

At this point I am only changing bedding in the morning unless it demands more changes. Sometimes early on moms have discharge for a couple of weeks so you need to change it frequently. At this point moms are keeping pups clean. As they get older the bedding changes happen frequently. Clean bedding means clean pups. When they appreciate a clean environment and get conditioned to it, they appreciate it as they get older.

They like soft and as they get older we will introduce toys and soft mini blankets to crawl under and over. I do that to a degree. Dennis gets worried they will suffocate so he always takes extra blankets out. The pups can and do get out from under blankets just fine. We all do things different and that's okay.

More later.

Oh my, they sure are eating vigorously in the first video with those lovely tails wagging away. And, the "where are you sibs" video broke my heart. Poor little soul, isn't their sense of smell sharp before their eyes are open?

Yes, I was feeling sorry for the lonely pup too but when it curled up and went to sleep I figured it wasn't too lonely and it couldn't have been crying or else Adele would have been paying more attention.

Haha! What a squirmy group of puppies! Too funny! lol! How is Roxie doing today? Assuming you're going to update her blog later with temperature reports?

I thought the same thing about the little one all by himself...or herself? They are adorable and looking so healthy and plump!

Pups smell their moms and mom was outside of the box. So he knew she was close but didn't know where. The puppy ate, was cleaned up and needed to fall asleep. Mom knew that. She was making sure the pup realized its sleep time. It settled in pretty quick. Check the start and finish time of the video. All she needs is to run when nothing is wrong and then you get a needy puppy that demands attention 24/7. There is the right time for loving, feeding and cleaning and the right time for sleeping. This puppy needed to sleep. Bravo mom for recognizing it even if its hard on us humans to watch. <smile> Adele is a great mom.

Just saw "who is the longest", man, that shows how squiggly they are. What a healthy, lively, lovely bunch of love. It was hysterical by the way :-)
