As you will see in the videos they have had no issue squirming their way here and there. They are actually pretty good at circling around mom. Sometimes the milk bar gets crowded so they either wait their turn or they need a bit of help.

All pups continue to gain but under and ounce across the board in 24 hours. Where Roxie's last litter was gaining over an ounce. They do things in their own timetable.

Adele still drives me crazy as she hides her pups under blankets etc protecting them. I am forever more redoing the bedding throughout the day. Wish I had been able to get to the baby consignment shop for some comforters. Comforters are best as smaller blankets get puppies caught underneath easier. If anyone sees some nicer ones at a baby consignment shop - used but not torn or so faded, I will buy.

Pups Are Eating

1 Pup Behind

Even with a great litter you have to know why that puppy is behind. Did it just eat or is it skipping a meal as it has a tummy ache or is it sleeping and didn't realize its eating time. Those puppy dreams are just too inviting.

We tend to watch them closely. Dennis stays up all night. I watch them during the day and Nathan watches them when I am grooming etc but we have a Foscam camera on them all the time. It allows me to watch when I am not in this room and it allows me freedom to do the things I must and still be attentive. It also allows me to take videos with a push of the button. Of course I still have to upload them etc but it is one of the best things I have done. I need another one if Leti goes into heat soon but I am not sure how I ever did without the cameras. I know, I stressed when I had to leave the room and I juggled. Wish I had them years and years ago.

Hope the videos make you feel a part of it from the beginning.

That's sweet with the one pup just sacked out on their back ... I don't care if your lying on top of me.
It's like Adele is saying, thanks for helping my pup out there.

I refer to these guys as the Coffee Crew. They have all the colours of different types of coffee. Yes, I am a coffee junkie!

I love great coffee. :-) Maybe I should give them temporary names - Cappuccino - Espresso - Cafe au Lait (Latte) - Cafe Mocha - Caramel Macchiato what else?

That Adele is a wonderful mom! And she is such a beauty as are her pups!

Can't help with the coffee names Darlah, I have plain old coffee. These pups are so adorable and Adele is an incredible Mom, unbelievable!! I too love the pup on her back, so relaxed!

You know, I would be scared stiff that Adele would roll on one of them. Good thing it's not me looking after them. I would be in the whelping box with them all the time. hahaha

Darlah, you did great with the coffee names. There's also Frappe. Plus Java and Kona.

Angela: It's why I have pigs rails in the box and I watch. Even when I am in the room I have the video going so I can always see what is going on. Some moms are not aware when they are laying on a pup when they are first time moms but Adele does. She goes to lay down and one is in the way, she gets up, pushes it with her nose and then lays down again. Also, pups will normally make a noise. Hey mom, I am under here you know. But she doesn't care if one is behind her. One would think that is terrible but its smart. It forces the puppy to go around her and they do. It builds up strength making it easier to stand eventually and walk. Risa used to do that. She would actually move on purpose and make them come to her. It drove me nuts until I realized what she was doing. She was actually helping them vs. giving them a hard time.

Karen:

Only one Kona so that wouldn't work but thought of more: Long Black,
Cafe Cubano, Cafe Creme, Breve, Mocha, Borgia, Mazagran, Vienna and Galao. I am sure there are more. :-)

Thanks, Liz. Funny Christine. She actually wasn't laying on the pup. But it appears that way with the hair. I know cause I do check. I love how she is laying on her back now after they are done eating. It says I trust.

October 3, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Oh, it wasn't Adele, it was another puppy that was laying across the one on its back, I call it the puppy pile when they're all jumbled together intertwined with each other.

October 3, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterChristine & Clarity

Christine:

Still good info. Puppy pileups usually happen when they either want comfort or they want to be warm and are cool. I noticed this crew likes comfort. :-)

Fascinating to watch one pup behind while the others are eating. To your point Darlah, good to know which one so you can keep track of his/her eating patterns. Great videos. Adele is truly a wonderful mom!

October 3, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAnne and Cooper

Love the video of Adele sleeping, or trying to, while some of her pups are eating and some are sleeping. Incredible to watch all of this, truly! I never get tired of watching those videos.

October 3, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAnne and Cooper

Darlah, thanks for this explanation of what Adele does to avoid hurting her pups. And, of course, what you said about your overseeing everything non-stop. You are such great breeders, truly you are. Can't wait!!

October 3, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAngela and Patches

I loved the videos. The puppies appear to be agile. All so sweet and gentle. . Darlah it reminds me of when my kids were infants and we were always worried about how they slept and ate. A lot of work for all of you. I am a coffee lover and I think you got more names than I knew existed. Good work and they are as heavenly as my first cup of coffee in the morning. Beautiful array of colours.

I would love to see a photo of the puppies all covered up by their momma Adele. Sounds so cute!

Ruth:

I have to catch her in the act. Sometimes she covers all. Sometimes she covers one. I did notice today that the pups are climbing up on the soft blanket so they do have strength on their side.
