Sad News

April died a week after spay. This is highly unusual. She had full testing before the spay and she was deemed exceptionally healthy. From day 1 she had issues and they gave her antibiotics, fluid etc. We suggested she send her out to Guelph. The vet said he had no capability and wanted to do one in house. The owner drove her to Guelph herself and marked the paperwork legal. Prelim results say it was not genetic, as we suspected. It will take at least 2 weeks more to get the final results.

We at Talemaker are heartbroken for April, for the little girl who loved her so and her human mom.

Christmas is not easy for all and we truly recognize this. Our hearts truly go out to the family.

This tragedy is heartbreaking. I am so very sad for your loss of April. Time and another Talemaker puppy when you are ready will help. The love you received from April will always be with you. We share your grief. Many hugs to all of you.

I am just now reading about April. How very sad for everyone. Meelo and I met them while training at Scholars in Collars. She was such a sweet tiny little thing. I am just devastated for poor Fiona as it was very obvious she adored April. I hope that Guelph can find out what happened. I also hope they will be able to open their heart to another Talemaker Havanese after they take some time to heal 🙏

It seems like vet error. People do make mistakes but what a cost.

Words cannot express the sadness I am feeling upon this news. Little April was an adorable puppy with lots of spunk and endless love for her family. Sending love and strength to her family and to the entire Talemaker family.

OMG just read the post. How awful. I have only seen the comments and videos before and she was such a lovely dog. I don't know what I would do if I lost Poppy. Hopefully time will heal the heart break. Another dog will never take the place of the one you lose but a new puppy makes it's own place in your heart. May your hearts heal and the good memories remain.
