Turning 2 Days This Afternoon: Gallery Added
How are the Jeannie pups doing? Dennis is able to catnap here and there as they are doing so well. This morning I took one of the pups off mom to weigh and he had a tight round belly.
Jeannie pups gain a great deal when they are pups but they do not grow later in late puppyhood. What that means is they look like they will be huge as they keep gaining and then they level out. We laughed her last litter as they were the fattest largest things but anyone who has a Jeannie puppy will tell you in adulthood they are far from oversized. We are actually hoping to get some leg on her as she is short in leg. Buddy may bring that. Each dog has different growth patterns. For instance Roxie's are pretty level gradual gain throughout. Spicy's will grow till later on gaining some height then width.
Jeannie is pretty relaxed. She's not fretting. She feeds, she eats, she goes out to do what she needs to though yesterday she went under the pool house so that was mighty fun for me. I gave her a bit more calcium and she seems to have stopped that behavior. Getting her out was not fun. I was pretty upset with her as she ignored me till I got angry with my words and she went oh I guess mom is not going to let me do this. I almost took her out with a lead each time but she didn't repeat that fun.
Normal gain in 24 hours is usually 2/8 to 3/8oz when they are days old. It increases as their stomach capacity increases. This is Jeannie's pups in the last 24 hours.
Tri boy gain 7/8oz
Creamy Boy gain 1-1/8oz
Tri girl gain 6/8oz
Creamy girl gain 7/8oz
They are all over 7oz and they are not yet 2 days old. First 24 hours is a loss or pretty minimal. They gained 2/8oz first 24 hours - all of them.
