3 Full Days Old

Although Momma Spirit is being picky with her eating, her puppy - going to call her Chi (Chee) for lifeforce temporarily - well she is gaining really well but not too much! Too much would mean too much gain and inability to walk. So, we do not want that.

This gal is now over 8ounces. Early weight is not an indicator of size as an adult. It only means she is eating well.

We have redone the whelping box area to make room for Sage.

Full 2 Days and Counting

She only gained 3/8oz overnight. I am ever so glad. If a puppy is a singleton and mom indulges her, she can get so fat they can't walk so you have to do exercises with them. That doesn't seem to be the case. Mom keeps getting her moving to her by changing her own position. Smart mom!

I hold her daily many times a day to get her used to human touch. As there is just one, I sat in a recliner with mom and puppy on a very soft blanket. It was a great bonding experience.

A Day and a Half Old

Momma Spirit is such a grand dog to capture due to her poses. I just love it. Here's another gallery.

She has gained 1/8 shy of 1lb since birth. She wants for nothing.

Has it Been 24 Hours?

Spirit's Gal is Now 24 hours oldMighty Comfortable...

So thoroughly happy she is!

The pup has now gained 5/8oz since birth. Usually they lose a bit the 1st 24 to 48 hours. She has all the milk spots for her.

Spirit is doting, protective and doesn't want to leave her. She cleans and kisses her throughout the day. She does make her come to her and she does. This is a good thing with a singleton as they need the exercise so they do not get too fat. It is imperative.

I also realize that I will need to give her other pups to focus on as losing this one at 10 weeks will be extremely hard. She is so totally tickled pink at her existence and I find her staring in amazement at her. She is totally in love.

Lo and Behold

Looks like this gal is a chocolate tri. It surely surprised me but they have to dry before you get a real feel for their colour.

I have some new videos up and one shows the gal on the other side of her leg finding it's way to a milk station. Wow nice strong gal. Momma needs a good combing out but not till tonight. Or maybe I will brush her in the whelping box.

Spirit all brushed out and mighty happy. I tried taking her outside for a pee and she had to get back to her pup.

Mom and puppy is eating well. Nathan actually had to go out and get more mousse and Swiss Chalet so we can eat. Only 3 cans of mousse so have to find another store that has it.  I didn't defrost the borscht as who was thinking - heh.
