3 Weeks 4 Days Old

We have an overachiever in this crew. Diamond gal was the 1st to practice walking and she is the 1st to use the pad on her own without being placed on it. She's a very early one on her development. She is also quick to learn. I even caught it on video. Check out the videos here.

They have reached the active play stage. Raven's has just started the interactive stage. It makes sense as they are 4 days apart. Plus Raven's is if true to form a gentle play group. We shall see how it evolves.

Misty is delighted as she now has found if she lays on the floor with her pups, they will play with her. She rather enjoys that and can be seen grinning from ear to ear.

Both set of pups now sleep about 3 plus hours between feeding. This gives the moms time to chill. Soon we will be introducing food.

3 Weeks 3 Days Old

They eat, they sleep they do it again. This crew has adjusted to me massaging them, cuddling with them etc. There are 2 that even get way excited to see me as they know what that means. I have to laugh. It's a little young for that but they get what it means for me to come in now that we have so much extra space.

They are eating well today. Now that Misty is on antibiotics the hardening is going away. Misty is more comfie.

3 Weeks 2 Days

Now this one is a real poser. What a beautiful face and a fun personality.

Poor Misty needs to go on antibiotics as she is engorged in 2 areas and the pups refuse to feed on those stations as milk is difficult to be expressed. I may put warm compresses on her. Misty never complains but she must be sore. It will take 4 or 5 days to clear up. It always has when one has had an issue. The pups are also going through - I will eat now - no not now. Can we all eat at once, please? This is typical.It's how they get engorged. They are still gaining well.

They are getting better at walking. They now have room.

Pups are peering at the other pups. A couple are fascinated.

3 Weeks 1 Day and New Digs

This crew was the 1st to have a new area. How did they do? They whimpered at first and then settled in.

It's not the whimpering to worry about but instead how fast they play recovery. This crew did really well. Raven's being younger is less aware of the huge change.

One of the pups climbed on a crinckle tunnel. Another peered at the Raven pups. The boy used the pee pad. They are 4 days older but at this stage that is huge. It's not so much when they get 4 plus weeks old.

What is in store for them next? Using the pee pads. We place them on after each feeding or when they wake up. As this is a spring/summer crew, they will also experience going outside. Probably in a week depending on the Raven crew, they will have 1 pen and be together. They will learn to eat solids and drink water.

They are starting to grow up. The play - well it's wonderful and soon Raven\s will be doing the same to the same degree.

3 Weeks Old

The last couple of days the pups have really started getting good at walking and playing with each other. It is nice to watch. Can you believe 3 weeks already?

Next milestone these pups will experience is out of their whelping box and eating solids and water. Interesting enough, water takes the longest to adapt to.

1 Day Shy of 3 Weeks

This gal smiling on her back has always been a happy, happy puppy. Always trying to walk early and just plain curious.

It's hard to believe they are 3 weeks tomorrow.

They have a lot of fun obstacles in their whelping box and they do seem to interact with them. I have added them to Raven's box now that all 3 have eyes open. By exposing them to toys early on, handling them, snuggling them, weighing them and more you help their exposures and condition them to what life is - us crazy humans loving them up too.

When they get to be 4 plus weeks old, we will start taking them outside, upstairs and you will smile at the fun!

19 Days Old

This is #3 born and she likes to tell mom it is time to eat.

The pups being 4 days older are really starting to show that they are interested in each other. It is quite nice to watch. They are almost too big to line up in a row to feed. Eventually mom will stand up or sit and have them feed that way. She knows they struggle to all get into a row.

I can't believe that on Tuesday they are 3 weeks old. Next big thing to occur is eating mousse and learning to drink water.

18 Days Old

It is obvious that they are much more aware of each other visually. They are interested in each other. The play will continue and increase over time. For now they are still sleeping a great deal. Sleep helps them grow.

A couple of them are getting particularly good at trying this walking stuff. That too will continue till they are up walking all over. They have to be steady on their feet to feed them food. That usually occurs about 6 to 7 days from now. This crew will eat first and then the Raven crew.

17 Days Old

Pups are edging up to 3 weeks. When they reach that age, activity levels will change.

They now have toys in their whelping box and they do nose them and lay on them or sleep in beside.

One particular is getting up on all 4s many times a day. She will be the 1st to completely walk.

They did not need their nails done yet. They will get them done again when they start catching on to the blankets etc.

16 Days Old

These pups are using their back legs a great deal and sometimes they get up on all 4 but that only lasts a minute.

They do eat like they are starving. Poor Misty. Some manage to push the others out of the way. The boy remains the smallest. They are rolly polly but as they walk, they lose that.

15 Days Old

Short blog today - sorry but the pups are getting handled. I kiss them up and snuggle. Number 3 really likes this experience and kisses me.

Two Weeks Old

This crew is certainly trying to walk at times and a couple say no to laying them on their back. We shall see how that goes each day of conditioning. A couple have started kissing me. It is delightful.

Can you believe they are 2 weeks? Sometimes I feel as if they are older and sometimes younger.

1 Day Shy of 2 Weeks

Usually I wait 2 to 3 weeks to give mom a bath but they have been crawling through her hair something fierce so I did a bath while the pups were sleeping. On the last video, you wil see she is nice and clean.

They seem to have figured out how to get up on their back legs and push off.

They are more relaxed with me manhandling them as they are 4 days older than Raven's crew and they can now see me. A couple say not on the back.

We take them out of their whelping box when they try to climb out. They are not there yet.

12 Days Old

So what has changed since eyes open? Not much. Their eyes are blurry now and over the next few days they will become clear. But they can see. Ears open usually about the same time so they can hear noises.

It takes them a few days to start getting more mobile and interacting with each other.

11 Days Old: Eyes Open

All 5 have eyes open. Imagine that. I am busy grooming but I will get photos up. So exciting. We will start adding toys in for a visual for this crew later.

1st born boy has sable coming in. His nose pigment is coming in. This is early for us for eyes open. Here is the gallery of all the eyes open.

This is 2nd born gal. Her nose pigment is almost all in and that half dash across the face is going to look STUNNING as we know that look well as her hair comes in.

This is 3rd born gal. She has the mostly black on her back. She was born with full pigment on her nose.

This is 4th born gal. She is the one that has the diamond on her back. She has some sable coming in and she is going to look mighty attractive = okay they all are as these markings are all so nice on all.

This is 5th born gal. Her pigment is coming in on her nose. She has a mighty interesting back and she's getting more black bleeding through.
