I have booked a flight from Fort Myers to Toronto on Dec 7 and returning to Ft Myers Jan 11. I have booked both of my Havanese to fly in the cabin with my husband and myself. I purchased the carry bags which look a litle bit small but meet the regulations. I put them in to try it and they didn't semm to mind too much. Both my Havanese are about 14 pounds. You are not supposed to sedate them so we are just keeping our fingers crossed that they will be quiet. At least you can talk to them and sneak at treat in the top.
You should try it. I'll let you know how mine goes in December.
Many fly with them. We have in the past but some are regular travelers and do rather well!
I just took my Havanese Sammy to FLA with me in August. She was just 9 months old then. I did give her mild sedation I got from my vet. It was necessary... she is not fearful but sooo social she would never have been able to fly with so many people around and unable to kiss them! I bought a " sleepy pod" carrier which was fabulous and comfy for her as it is somewhat adjustable giving her a tad more room when not under the seat. I think the sedation reservations you read about are more for dogs in crates in stowage where they subject to different air pressures and are unattended.
Has anyone taken their Havanese on a plane with them? I am wondering if they were allowed in cabin. I am travelling by plane to Nova Scotia and would like to have my dog with me in the cabin. He is 10 months old and almost full grown at ~11 pounds. Any suggestions appreciated.
